During a recent performance at MadisonSquareGarden, Hilary Duff surprised concertgoers by inviting Good Charlotte to join her on stage for a rendition of the pop-punk hit “The Anthem.” The collaboration took place during one of two nights the former Lizzie McGuire star is performing at the iconic New York venue as part of her Lucky Me Tour.
Brothers Benji and Joel Madden of Good Charlotte took the stage alongside Duff and her band to perform the track from the group’s 2002 album The Young and the Hopeless. The special guest appearance delighted fans attending the July 5 show, with the moment quickly gaining traction on social media.
Duff launched her Lucky Me Tour earlier this year in support of her latest album, Luck … or Something, which arrived in February following a decade-long gap since her previous release. The tour, which continues through February 2027, features stops across multiple countries including upcoming dates in the United Kingdom and a final show in Mexico City.
Duff and Madden previously dated from 2004 to 2006 but have remained close friends over the years. Both are now married—Duff to Matthew Koma and Madden to Nicole Richie—and the families have maintained a friendly relationship, frequently socializing together.
