Beyoncé has released a remix package for “Morning Dew (Donk),” an archival track from her self-titled album era, featuring a notable collaboration with Jay-Z. The four-track collection marks the rapper’s first new verse in nearly five years, with Jay-Z delivering bars that reference his jewelry and wife while dismissing potential detractors.
The updated version incorporates musical elements from several artists across different decades. The production samples Sheck Wes’s 2018 track “Mo Bamba,” Soulja Boy’s 2007 hit “Donk,” and the Isley Brothers’ 1983 classic “Between the Sheets.” This last sample connects to Jay-Z’s previous work, as he had utilized the same song on a 2007 release.
The remix pack includes both explicit and clean versions of the original recording alongside the new remix. “Morning Dew (Donk)” was written by Beyoncé alongside producers Pharrell Williams, The-Dream, and Darius Dixon. The release serves as a preview of upcoming anniversary celebrations for Beyoncé’s second studio album, with a special edition scheduled to drop on her birthday, September 4.
