The Seattle Seahawks experienced mixed results during Monday’s practice session at their Virginia Mason Athletic Center facility. While running backs Jadarian Price and Jacardia Wright returned to padded team drills, second-year wide receiver Tory Horton was notably absent from the field.
Horton, who suffered a cracked tibia that forced him to miss the latter portion of last season, did not participate in the Monday practice. Head coach Mike Macdonald offered limited details regarding the receiver’s status, simply stating that Horton is “working through some things” without elaborating on the specific nature of his situation or providing a timeline for his return.
The absence marks only the second missed practice for Horton since training camp began in late July. Despite undergoing offseason surgery and missing the team’s organized team activities and mandatory minicamp, Horton had been present for the initial days of camp and showed promise during the early portions of training. He did not see action in Saturday’s preseason contest against Dallas, though it remains unclear whether injury or strategic roster management caused his sitting out.
Horton’s injury history presents a concern, as he dealt with leg injuries that ended his final college season at Colorado State and limited his rookie NFL campaign to just eight games. The Seahawks appear to be taking a cautious approach with their young receiver as the team navigates the preseason.
