A TikTok video posted to Donald Trump’s campaign account has lost its audio after featuring Taylor Swift’s song “August.” The video, which surfaced four days ago on the @TeamTrump account, originally included the track from Swift’s 2020 album “Folklore” alongside footage of Trump and Melania Trump watching fireworks. The post’s caption sarcastically referenced the singer, stating the campaign was “sure” she would be excited about the music’s use.
Users discovered the audio had been removed on Friday evening. A message now appears on the video indicating that “the copyright owner hasn’t made this sound available in your country.” This marks the second instance of Swift’s music being stripped from Trump campaign content, as another video featuring her song “Father Figure” also had its audio removed.
The removal comes amid a documented history of tension between Swift and Trump. In September 2024, Trump posted hostile messages toward the singer after she publicly endorsed Kamala Harris in the presidential election. The campaign had previously shared artificial intelligence-generated images falsely depicting Swift as endorsing Trump, prompting Swift to clarify her actual political position.
The @TeamTrump TikTok account, which boasts 14 million followers, was established ahead of the 2024 election and continues posting regularly. Representatives for both Swift and Trump have been contacted for comment regarding the audio removal.
