Sony may introduce a budget-friendly variant of its popular WH-1000XM4 noise-canceling headphones, industry insiders suggest. The move comes after the manufacturer released its premium $650 Collexion model earlier this year, indicating a diversified approach to its 1000X audio product lineup.
The anticipated WH-1000XM4C model is expected to debut in early September 2026, featuring comparable performance to the original version at a significantly lower cost. The new headphones will be available in black, silver, and lavender finishes, with pricing around €249.99 or £219.99, translating to approximately $289-$297 in USD.
The budget iteration will retain key features from its predecessor, including Sony’s QN1 noise-cancellation processor, spatial audio capabilities, hi-res audio support, and touch-sensitive controls. However, potential buyers should note a trade-off: battery longevity will be somewhat reduced compared to the original model, offering up to 34 hours of playback without noise-canceling and 27 hours with it enabled, versus the original’s 38 and 30 hours respectively.
