Real Madrid has completed the acquisition of 19-year-old Ivorian winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig, securing his services through June 2033. According to Spanish media reports, the transfer represents a club record expenditure of 140 million euros, approximately $161 million when accounting for performance-based bonuses.
Diomande joins Madrid as their sixth signing of the preseason, following several other notable arrivals. The young talent spent the previous season with Leipzig after transferring from Spanish club Leganes in 2025, where he made an immediate impact in the Bundesliga. His standout performance earned him recognition as the league’s Young Player of the Season, during which he contributed 12 goals and eight assists.
The signing follows competitive interest from other European powerhouses. Paris Saint-Germain withdrew from negotiations citing concerns about the transfer’s financial scale, while Liverpool’s June bid was rejected. Diomande has also represented Ivory Coast at the international level, featuring in World Cup competition.
Madrid’s aggressive recruitment comes under new management, with Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho returning for a second tenure. The club aims to rebuild its squad after failing to capture major trophies over the previous two seasons, with additional pursuit of Manchester City midfielder Rodri reportedly ongoing.
