Signal, the encrypted messaging platform, has expanded its device-linking capabilities to include multiple phones under a single account. Previously, the service allowed users to connect computers and iPads to their primary device, but adding additional smartphones was not possible. This latest update removes that limitation for both Android and iPhone users.
When devices are linked through Signal, users gain the ability to access and reply to messages across all connected phones simultaneously. The platform also offers enhanced security features, allowing users to selectively transfer encrypted copies of previous conversations to newly linked devices. This option helps reduce potential vulnerabilities if any connected device is shared, misplaced, or compromised.
The new functionality is now available through Signal version 8.20 for Android devices and version 8.22 for iPhones and iPads. Alongside this update, Signal has implemented substantial interface refinements designed to better accommodate larger screens, including improved support for foldable phones and Android tablets. The company noted that its large-screen Android interface remains under development, with ongoing optimization efforts planned for its Chromebook application as well.
