The Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants have been unexpectedly removed from The CW’s broadcast schedule just one week before they were set to air. The network and the pageant organization have provided limited information about the sudden change, with The CW stating only that it made the decision “after careful consideration and conversations with the Miss USA Organization.”
According to the Miss USA Organization, a contractual dispute emerged two weeks prior that could not be resolved in time for the scheduled broadcasts. The organization indicated it attempted to find alternative arrangements that would allow the pageants to remain on The CW but was unable to reach agreeable terms. Both events will now be streamed through the Queen Beauty Network instead, with Miss Teen USA originally scheduled for August 26 and Miss USA for August 27.
The broadcasting situation reflects ongoing changes in the pageant’s leadership structure. Last year, the Miss Universe Organization transferred exclusive rights to the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA franchises to Brodeur Beauty founder Thom Brodeur under a ten-year agreement, replacing previous leadership. The pageant has faced multiple controversies in recent years, including the relinquishment of titles by previous winners and the recent removal of a state titleholder over conduct concerns.
