HBO Max has eliminated its complimentary trial period in recent years, joining other streaming services in reducing free access opportunities. However, potential viewers interested in sampling the platform’s extensive library without immediate payment do have viable alternatives available through partner services.
One workaround involves subscribing to DirecTV’s streaming bundles, which include complimentary HBO Max access. The MyEntertainment package provides a five-day trial period before requiring payment, while also bundling Disney+ and Hulu alongside 55+ live television channels. The Premier package offers an even more comprehensive trial with similar benefits but includes additional premium channels and sports programming.
Amazon Prime members can access a seven-day trial through Prime Video’s Channels feature. After logging into their existing Prime account, users can navigate to the HBO Max section and activate the complimentary week without commitment. The trial converts to a paid subscription only if the user chooses to continue beyond the initial period.
For those purchasing directly from HBO Max, subscription options range from $10.99 monthly for the ad-supported Basic plan to $22.99 for the Premium tier, which supports 4K streaming and simultaneous access on multiple devices. The Standard plan at $18.49 removes advertisements and enables sports viewing capabilities.
