SonyLIV has unveiled the first look for “Scam 2010,” the third installment in its acclaimed financial crime franchise. The series, produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment, will premiere exclusively on the streaming platform and is currently in production. The show draws inspiration from journalist Tamal Bandyopadhyay’s book “Sahara: the Untold Story” and centers on the rise and fall of Subrata Roy, founder of the Sahara India Pariwar conglomerate.
Actor Siddharth Bodke takes the lead role in the production, with filmmaker Hansal Mehta returning to direct. Mehta, who helmed the original “Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story,” describes the narrative as an exploration of ambition, influence, and the consequences of unchecked power. He emphasizes how the story examines the construction of a business empire built on conviction and its subsequent collapse. Bodke expressed enthusiasm about portraying the protagonist’s multifaceted character, praising Mehta’s direction and the project’s scope.
The series faced legal opposition from Sahara India Pariwar following its announcement in May 2025, though Sony Pictures Networks India’s leadership indicated the dispute has been resolved. The “Scam” franchise has established itself as culturally significant television, with the original 1992 installment becoming one of India’s most acclaimed streaming series. Content executives note that Mehta’s talent for transforming real-world events into compelling human narratives remains central to the franchise’s success.
