Hendrick Motorsports announced Monday that Connor Zilisch has agreed to a multiyear contract to pilot the No. 48 Chevrolet beginning in 2028. The 20-year-old driver, currently competing in his rookie season with Trackhouse Racing, will take over the seat vacated by Alex Bowman, who announced plans to retire from full-time racing at the conclusion of the 2027 season.
Rick Hendrick, owner of the prestigious NASCAR organization, praised Zilisch’s abilities and character. “His talent behind the wheel is exceptional, but I’m even more impressed by the person he is,” Hendrick stated, emphasizing that the team works diligently to recruit drivers who combine skill with strong personal qualities.
Zilisch expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to join the legendary team. The young driver acknowledged that driving for Hendrick Motorsports represents a childhood dream and emphasized the significance of continuing the organization’s legacy of excellence in professional racing.
The No. 48 vehicle will continue to receive primary sponsorship from Ally, which has served as the car’s main sponsor annually since 2019. Zilisch currently stands 34th in the Cup Series standings during his inaugural full-time season.
