British featherweight boxer Raven Chapman is recovering following emergency brain surgery after collapsing during a sparring session in Denmark on July 24. The 32-year-old athlete was immediately transported to hospital, where medical professionals identified a brain haematoma and cerebral oedema—conditions characterized by bleeding and swelling in the brain.
According to a statement from her management team Vote Boxing, Chapman underwent emergency surgical intervention that successfully halted the bleeding and stabilized the swelling. Following the procedure, she was placed in a medically induced coma as part of her treatment protocol. The boxer has since been removed from sedation and continues receiving medical care while preparations are underway for her transfer to a United Kingdom hospital.
Chapman’s family has remained at her side throughout her hospitalization. Her management team indicated that rehabilitation is expected to be an extended process. A fundraising campaign has been established to assist with medical expenses, while the boxing community has rallied behind the athlete with messages of support, including acknowledgments from prominent figures in the sport.
