Amazon MGM Studios has appointed Pia Barlow as its new head of original series marketing, effective August 3. In this newly created position, Barlow will direct all marketing initiatives for Prime Video’s domestic and international original programming. She will work under Sue Kroll, who serves as the studio’s global marketing leader for film, television, and brand initiatives.
Barlow brings extensive experience from her previous role at HBO Max, where she led marketing campaigns for several acclaimed series including “Euphoria,” “House of the Dragon,” and “Hacks.” Her career also includes significant positions at Netflix, where she managed promotions for shows such as “Orange Is the New Black” and “Queer Eye,” and contributed to developing the platform’s international marketing strategy. Additionally, Barlow held executive roles at HBO, where she began her career in 2003 working on campaigns for programs including “Girls” and “Silicon Valley,” as well as a position at Twentieth Century Fox Film.
Kroll expressed confidence in Barlow’s appointment, noting her comprehensive background across multiple genres and formats in television and film. Barlow’s new position parallels that of Stephen Bruno, Amazon MGM Studios’ VP of film marketing, creating a parallel structure within the company’s marketing leadership.
