A24 has unveiled the first trailer for “Primetime,” featuring actor Robert Pattinson in a leading role as Chris Hansen, the host of the controversial television series “To Catch a Predator.” The drama-thriller explores a pivotal moment in the show’s history, with the official description stating that Hansen attempts to make television history in 2006. The film also stars Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, and Phoebe Bridgers in supporting roles.
“To Catch a Predator” originally aired on Dateline NBC between 2004 and 2007 as an investigative program that documented undercover sting operations targeting child predators across America. The series gained significant popularity during its run, though it became the subject of intense scrutiny following a tragic incident in November 2006 involving Texas assistant district attorney Bill Conradt, whose death during a police operation led to the show’s cancellation in 2008.
The new film marks the narrative feature directorial debut of Lance Oppenheim and is produced by Range Media, Icki Eneo Arlo, and Square Peg. Robert Pattinson serves as a producer alongside Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Fred Berger, Brighton McCloskey, Lars Knudsen, and Tyler Campellone. “Primetime” is set to arrive in theaters on September 25.
