The restructuring reflects Google’s strategic positioning in an intensely competitive artificial intelligence landscape where the company faces rivals like OpenAI and Anthropic. Despite these organizational changes, Google’s cloud division continues expanding rapidly, with revenue climbing 82 percent in the second quarter to reach $24.8 billion, outpacing both Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. The announcement prompted Alphabet shares to decline approximately 4 percent.
