The New York Film Festival has unveiled its 32-film main slate for its 64th edition this September. The prestigious event will feature four world premiere selections, including Tony Gilroy’s “Behemoth!” as the centerpiece film and Ava DuVernay’s documentary “14th” as the closing night presentation. Additional world premieres include Mani Haghighi’s Iranian drama and Takashi Yamazaki’s “Godzilla Minus Zero.”
The lineup draws heavily from recent Cannes Film Festival selections, including several award-winning entries. Notable titles include Andrew Haigh’s period drama “A Long Winter,” Chris Rock’s Hollywood drama “Misty Green” marking his directorial return, and Pedro Almodóvar’s “Bitter Christmas.” The festival will also showcase Mike Leigh’s final film “Tender Loving Care” and a collection of international works from established and emerging directors.
Among the 32 films, seventeen feature debut directorial entries in the main slate, including Marine Atlan’s “La Gradiva,” which won the Critics’ Week Grand Prize at Cannes. Hong Sangsoo is the sole filmmaker presenting two titles in the selection. The festival runs from September 25 through October 12 and will screen across multiple venues including Lincoln Center, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and locations in Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx.
