The 34-year-old is expected to finalize his transfer on Thursday in the Black Sea city of Trabzon.
Salah’s arrival marks a significant move in his playing career after nine years with Liverpool, during which he established himself as one of Europe’s elite forwards. The forward will undergo mandatory medical examinations before completing the formalities of his switch to the Turkish outfit, which announced negotiations with the player just one day prior. Club officials indicated the transfer would be conducted on a free transfer basis.
The move comes following a challenging final season at Liverpool, where Salah’s performance dipped considerably compared to previous campaigns. His diminished role in European competitions and reported disagreements with then-manager Arne Slot contributed to his departure. Prior to settling on Trabzonspor, the forward had been engaged in talks with fellow Turkish side Besiktas, though those discussions ultimately broke down over contractual disagreements.
Trabzonspor, finishing third in last season’s domestic league, will compete in the Europa League playoff round this term. The club has not won the Turkish championship since the 2021-22 season.
